One of the first services offered by @Link as a
wholesale service will be entertainment video services delivered
over IP. The IP video service will consist of over 120 channels
as well as vertical services such as VDR, VOD, caller ID and pay
per event services to subscribers. The signal can be delivered to
the ILEC or CATV networks via leased fiber at either an IP or QAM-64
ASI/DVB format, depending on the specific needs of the client-network.
The connecting ILEC or CATV Company will be responsible for content
costs for the channels required, but will not have transport or
digitization costs that are usually levied by other advanced video
delivery networks. @Link will only charge a percentage of gross
billed video revenues for compensation for the delivery of the IP
or QAM service. These rates vary, depending on size and ownership,
but fluctuate between 7.5% and 40%. Even in the highest tier level
of pricing, digital video is a profitable venture for its clients,
replacing cost prohibitive fees with costs based on billed revenue
percentages.
In addition to video, @Link will provide IP-based
connectivity to switch-routing-hub (SRH) locations. These hub locations
will be located in Oklahoma City and Tulsa to provide points of
presence for access to underlying long distance carriers, for the
provision of wholesale long distance to all @Link network customers
at low rates. Since the traditional long distance rates for an underlying
carrier are cost prohibitive due to the cost of connecting these
rural ILEC’s to their long distance network, @Link takes advantage
of the same fiber MPLS backbone to deliver all rural traffic to
either the Oklahoma City or Tulsa location, so that it can take
advantage of much lower wholesale rates for long distance termination.
This is something that cannot be accomplished individually. By offering
this LD service, ILEC’s can bundle their dial tone and long
distance together by imputing tariff rates as well as an additive
for the LD service, thereby allowing them to compete with the likes
of VoIP and wireless cellular alternatives.
